What is your Moneyball?
![]() |
| @RideDerty Dirty |
Have you ever started something a bit risky, then stopped because you were afraid of what people might say if you fail. Have you have ever had a feeling that something wasn't right, but were too afraid to say anything?
The money ball is a movie you have to watch. The difference between crazy and genius is very hard to distinguish. The difference between courage and fear is allot easier to see.Courage is simply when you stop believing others and begin to believe in yourself. If you can learn to believe that you alone know what is best for you, then you become unstoppable.
Right now on this planet, in this country, there are people who are getting paid to do exactly what they love to do.
Billy Beane became the manager of the Oakland A's and it would take him 20 years to make is mark on the game. While I was watching this movie I couldn't help but feel the fear he must have felt when he would start to doubt himself. People would say negative things about what he was doing. I watched Money Ball and came out of the theater more determined that ever.
I've encountered, more so in the last 6 months, negative comments and for obvious reasons. I've learned that anytime someone goes against what has always been done, there are always those who will fight to the death to maintain the status-quo.
No one believed Billy Beane would win. Even Billy had his doubts at times. He won 20 times in a row!
He kept going.

Why we should all use Google Places
I heard a story about a dealership who was using Google places to steer traffic to their store. LITERALLY!!!
A Ford store in Houston is using the name of other stores on Google places to divert traffic from their competitors. A bit sneaky to say the least but that's not the best part. The best part is that the other store listed didn't seem to care, according to the Internet director.
Shame on him. He said he had told them to fix it but they didn't see it as a priority. I say get your ass in their and fix it yourself. You don't need permission to do it, just do it already. It's your customer who is looking for you that ends up at the other store and buys a car from the guy who greets them at the door because you told them to change it and they didn't.
Idiot!
It is very easy to fix and I promise you its costing you a minimum of 3 deals a month. If you do the math, at $2000 a round, that's $6000 a month and $72,000 a year.
At any point anywhere on the planet, you could Google "Used Car Ricky" and find my website, location, and, if you want to call, you could call from your cell phone by clicking my number in Google maps on your phone and I would answer.
There is no excuse for having inaccurate information on the web. Especially your Google Places information. Get it done!!! Thank you and goodnight.

YouTube: Get Your Message Out
Video is a great way to get you message out. There are some things you should do to optimize your video so people can find it and share it.
If you want a high click rate, keep your videos under two minutes, for now anyway. You want to be known as an expert, so whatever you upload, make sure its something you are really interested in. If you are using an iPhone, iMovie is awesome for videos. Now that your video is up make sure the title is short and to the point. I try to keep it around 5 words or less. The description should be short as well. Try to remember that people go to YouTube to watch not read. Also, in every single video, put the URL of your blog or website in the description. It will help with back links, indexing, and searches on Google. Now tagging! Remember, tagging is a way to reference your content. If you are looking for sedans, you shop the sedan section not the truck section, so tag your videos accordingly because if you tag them incorrectly people will vote them down. Now license. I catch grief because I use a creative license which means the others can download and embed my videos. Others say you should protect your content from being altered. I say as long as I'm honest and transparent, people will know if something has been altered, and I have the original. You can decide for yourself. I want my videos to infect the web and the best way for that to happen is by allowing others to find it and share it.
Thank You and Goodnight

Ladies and Gentleman: Mr Larry Hendrick
I am using tweet adder which a twitter program that helps you build a twitter audience. The real reason I use Tweet Adder is because it allows you to listen and watch real time conversations and respond accordingly.
Mr. Larry Hendrick
At some point he tweeted the phrase “car shopping” and tweet adder followed him. He, like everyone else who uses twitter sees his numbers of followers go up and checks to see who is following. He sees @UsedCarRicky is following him. He clicks on the YouTube link and The Used Car Ricky Show Starts Right Now. He loves it. He send me a tweet and asks what store I work at. I send him my google places link. Which points to my website. He clicks the link and presto change-o he knows exactly who I am and what I do.
Have you ever talked to someone out on the lot and you made an instant connection?
How would you like to do that every single day?
How would you like to have your friends come hang out with you and then buy a car?
Would that feel a little more like fun than work?
When Larry drove up, I knew it was him because I went to his website and saw what he was up to. When he got there around 2 p.m. I yelled out ” The Myth, The Legend, Larry Hendricks” He smiled and said “Used Car Ricky!!” I’m telling you I almost hugged him. We spent the next hour or so just chatting and talking about the Internet and bounced ideas off each other.
When he left we shook hands and I’m sure he has never gone to a car dealership and felt as good when he got there as when he left.
The high point of my day was when my notification went of and he tweeted
“Just left a meeting w/ @usedcarricky Yeah, he’s that cool.”
Its awesome when you meet someone, anyone, just one person enjoys your work.
Thanks for coming bye! Thanks for listening!

My Rant!
If you want to kill the enthusiasm of a great sales person, give him lots of time to himself. If you want assassinate a promising career, create a "kill or be killed" environment and when someone falls short, make sure you point out what a bad job the the bottom half of the class is doing. Then, single him out and make sure the entire room hears the following statement "if my top guy can sell 15 cars why can't you".
If you want to create an environment of learning, growing, and excellence, make sure you have plenty of one on ones with the entire team. Learn to focus on their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. Then you will see just how good they really can be.
I'm just saying...
